Will got 6th place at divisionals. We're going to Nationals! Nationals will take place in Colorado Springs, CO on March 2-4.
Time to start looking ahead toward the spring roped season, Sport Climbing Series. This post will be very brief in length and detail, but I wanted to at least get the time line and agenda to you for the next couple weeks. Divisionals for the past bouldering season are this upcoming weeked (14th and 15th) in North Carolina. Will and Sara are both competing that weekend, be sure to wish them luck as they represent our team at our first ever Divisionals involvement!!
Our Spring season will begin the following weekend, but this will be our trial / tryout week. Practice will be as usual that week, Tues and Thurs 7pm to 9pm. However, being a trial/tryout week, anyone interested in the team is welcome to join us that week. We depend mostly on our climbers and their parents to spread the word to others that might be interested in our team, so please let others know about this trial week. This will give the coaches a chance to see everyone's ability and work ethic and decide what spot on our competitive or preparatory team will be best for them.
The teams will be announced the following Tuesday at a mandatory meeting for climbers and at least one parent for each climber. At this meeting we will also fully detail the upcoming season and the changes being made to the structure of the team. Those that are currently on the competitive team and wish to continue on the team, don't worry... you have a reserved spot! However, our competitive team will now have two squads - one that is unconditionally committed to the competitions and one that will also compete but at a lower level of commitment. Both squads will still meet at the same time and continue as one team, but will allow us to have clear expectations of each climber and each squad. This will also be explained at length at the mandatory meeting on Tuesday, January 24th, 7pm.
If you have any questions in the meantime, just let me know! -Jordan
The purpose of the B-Team is to create a long-lasting program that allows Bloomington’s talented youth to reach their potential in rock climbing. This will not be a leisurely approach, but rather will show each youth climber what is possible when they work towards a goal. Confidence will be built through personalized training and tested through local and regional competitions. The team will give each climber the necessary platform to climb safely and successfully for years to come.
